I don't even know where to start. The flippancy with which so many of you analogize any and all women to [sexual] products with a finite use-value is alarming. The rigid gender-essentialist, patriarchal narrative of the world that you insist is self-evident, but then go out of your way to explicate, police, and enforce - it's a tired, cruel, and ultimately sad way to view the world. This reductionist-economic model for [sexual/romantic] relations is an excellent example of the intertwining systems of capitalist and patriarchal oppression: not only have women been entirely commodified, but even the very human experiences of sexual pleasure, bodily joy, emotional intimacy - they're just finite products to be bought and sold and bartered with. And as many have pointed out, so much of this system is entirely founded on and maintained by an enormous weight of men's shame and hurt. And this toxic societal burden of male fragility is ultimately the source of so much violence.
Honestly though. Try to educate yourself, and open your mind and heart to the experiences of others. This thread is filled with commentary on the relative sexual access of women to men, but seems to offer little analysis of the way that our entire society is structured with the presumption of male access to female bodies. So much so that for some of you just the perception of being denied this God-given right is enough to catapult you into a life of sexist extremism. Really though, talk with and actually listen to women (and others with relevant experience), and you'll begin to appreciate how prevalent instances of sexist violence, from slut-shaming to cat-calling to sexual assault to rape to murder, really are. And maybe talk to some queer and LGBTQ+-identified people who have experiences that don't fit into the heteronormative-binaristic mold. Read some feminist, gender, and queer theory, and turn some critical inspection onto yourself. How might you live without the constant threat of social violence if you stray outside the norm? How might you dress, speak, act, love, make love, f-uck, live in a world that doesn't shame and maim us for the ways we would choose to? At any rate, there are people trying to build this better world, and I hope you'll consider joining us.
